“Pulikali” translates into “tiger dance” is a famous folk dance from Kerala. It is held every year on the fourth day of Onam (harvest festival in Kerala). Here, the artists are chosen on the basis of who has pot belly, the more the merrier. The main attraction is the way they perform. There is a musical anklet tied around their waist and they have to shake it as they dance. It is also accompanied with chenda kottu which is the music on which they dance.
