Reviewing Google's Pixel 9 Pro in 2025, one year after launch and before the 10 Pro hits UK stores. Here's how the camera smarts, Android 16 features, battery life and gaming prowess of the Pixel 9 Pro hold up vs rival flagship Androids.

At a new discount price, this compact Google smartphone is impressive value for money. That cost drop is ahead of the 10 series launch of course, but I'm not expecting many hardware upgrades compared with the Pixel 9 Pro. Sure, gamers may be more impressed by the new Tensor G5, and battery life may slightly improve. But the Pixel 9 Pro is still a cracker for the camera experience, while Android 16 is here in full.

Even when stacked against the brightest 2025 Android flagship smartphones, Google's mini Pro is one of the best. At least, if you want to point and shoot with that camera. Video Boost impresses as always, as do the photo editing tools. The Pixel 9 Pro is also dependable for decent battery life and can handle games like Wuthering Waves. But in areas like those, it has been overtaken by the OnePlus 13 and some other rivals.
