Reading literature - 4 terms your students must understand before you begin your book or film study

Students need to understand the way we structure our units when we study novels, short stories or films – literature! To help them navigate your unit, and to help them write about their studied texts, take them through these four terms early on:
• Elements of literature (texts)
• Theme
• Main idea/ideas
• Aspects of texts
