Kentmere Pike & Shipman Knotts. Lake District. 20th January 2022

A walk in the Lake District covering two Wainwright Fells, Kentmere Pike (730m) and Shipman Knotts (587m)
The walk starts from the parking area beside the village hall in the village of Kentmere in the Eastern Lake District. From the village hall we walk North along the road for a short distance before taking a path on the right hand side of the road. We follow this path before crossing a footbridge onto Low lane. We follow Low Lane to Hallow Bank where we start the climb up to Kentmere Pike. The path climbs steadily before reaching the ridge where we follow a wall to the Summit of Kentmere Pike (730m) After taking in the views from the summit we follow the wall, then a fence back down the ridge to Goat Scar and then on to Shipman Knotts (587m) From Shipman Knotts we follow the path towards Wray Crag where we pick up the track leading to Stile End. From Stile End we then turn left and follow the road back to Kentmere Village. Distance is around 6.75miles.
