Bistek is a savory Filipino dish usually made of tender beef, soy sauce, citrus, pepper and lots of onion. I replaced the beef with crispy tofu! No fuss, just a simple, satisfying dish for any time of the day.

Crispy Tofu Bistek | Filipino Tofu Bistek Recipe
Ingredients:
Crispy Tofu Fillets
1 block firm tofu
season with salt and pepper

For breading:
1/4 cup flour
1 tbsp nutritional yeast
black pepper
1/3 cup water
toasted bread crumbs
air fry at 180°C for 12-15 minutes, flip halfway
spray with coconut oil

Flipino Bistek Sauce:
5 cloves garlic
1 white onion
1-2 red onions
20ml kalamansi juice or lemon juice
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
2 tbsp vegetarian oyster sauce
300ml water
2 tbsp cornstarch
salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
spring onions for garnish
best serve with rice
