Range Rover P38 # 059 - Rough Start/Idle - Rear and Front Fender Covers - Washer Nozzle

Описание к видео Range Rover P38 # 059 - Rough Start/Idle - Rear and Front Fender Covers - Washer Nozzle

As you can see the green P38 I'm working on has developed some rough start issues. To begin with it wouldn't start, but I figured that was due to me changing the diesel return lines between the injectors. I can't see any bubbles in the diesel supply line but after hooking up my diagnostics unit I saw that the "start of injection" was constantly at -3.0 degrees and the fuel flow fluctuated a bit between 5 and 15 mg instead of a steady 8-9 mg. Once the car warms up (around 70C / 160F) and it's rev'ed to around 2000 RPMs the issue goes away, the "start of injection" signal returns and it idles fine. There's no loss of power and it runs great otherwise.

I'm suspecting the injection pump (since I've seen error 136 fuel flow actuator circuit which causes almost stall sometimes), or the #4 injector needle sensor. Listening in on injector # 4 with a screwdriver to the ear I can hear it's more metallic and rough sounding. An injector is easier to replace, but if it's the pump then it's harder as it needs to be timed too... Not sure what to do here so I'll have to diagnose and check a bit further.

I'll source the socket for replacing the injectors and taking off the fuel lines (LRT-12-117 and LRT-12-120) and get any other needed bits and pieces in case I need to pull the injector. I've got the locking tool for the injection pump already.

Injector # 4 part # is STC4218 (Bosch 0432217236).
The other 5 injectors are STC4217.
Fuel pump part # STC2268, or exchange part # STC2270E.

I got my fender covers installed again today. Both front and rear take ANR2224 clips. 5 in the rear, and 6 (or 8 without mud flaps) in the front. Usually they can be reused, but I keep a few spares in case. The tricky part is lining up the cover with the chassis mount holes. It's much easier with the wheels off as you then can see what you're aiming for better.

Finally I replaced the left windscreen washer nozzle as the left part of it didn't have any umph or power left in it. They're cheap and really easy to replace. Just note that the new design is a bit different than the original ones. They just pop out when you press on the clip holding them in place.
