Sleep serves an important purpose in our physical, mental as well as metabolic health.

It’s also a two-way street: health issues can cause sleep loss and loss of sleep can cause health issues. Reiterating the importance of a well balanced lifestyle rather than becoming hyper focussed on just one aspect.

Ironically - being stressed about sleep is in itself one of the common causes of loss of sleep.

So as always relax a little and don’t fret over every second of lost sleep - but don’t deliberately ignore sleep either. Do what you can 💖

PS: sleep stages are still not fully understood and they’re all interlinked. For instance- both REM and N2 are involved in motor learning. But for the sake of simplicity and storytelling I’ve kept one key function under each category. Any errors are unintentional and regretted. Key message is simply to drive home the importance of a fixed sleep schedule for those who have the means to work towards it.
