Mariah Carey’s Vision of Love [LIVE GOOD MORNING AMERICA] - this is my reaction, analysis and breakdown. This iconic performance may be one of Mariah’s first as this is her first single from her album Vision of Love. (And I’m loving the blonde curly bangs, such a 90s look). This performance features some great belts and mixed belts, a beautiful, rich, chesty tone with a lot of darkness, and some incredible riffs. Mariah of this era was much less forward and used a lot more of a true chest voice, giving us a beautiful sound but put her more at risk of straining. In later years we hear a lot more nasal mixes, more forwardness and a higher larynx giving us a brighter sound. However this is definitely one of my favorite performances of hers and definitely one of my favorite songs.
