I don't like football or footballers much, but I was impressed in the conduct the English team and their manager Gareth Southgate showed throughout the games and even in defeat. Hopefully, Gareth can lay those ghosts from his penalty shoot out in the 1996 World Cup to rest, as he has done a 'sterling job'. I personally, consider Gary Lineker in 1996, the last English 'gentleman footballer' (to me). It was a surprise to see how well Gareth Southgate did and led his team to behave as well. There can only be one winner in this competition, but its how you get there that should also count and you did yourselves and your country proud, and that's coming from someone who doesn't like the sport. Well done to all.
