Dear Lady Bian,

My general, Sun Ren, has sent me an account of a most glorious battle. She was able to gain a major tactical and strategic victory against our enemies, the Tao Ying. My son, Cao Pi, is a lucky man. If only I were younger! You know that I jest. She holds nothing to you but, she is beautiful and brilliant! Please find her account of the battle enclosed. I know that you have always admired our son's choice, even if they have the most raucous fights. I don't like that. Perhaps it is a phase. New love!

Sun Ren's victory has sealed the fate of the Tao Ying. For good. Apparently, both Sun Ren and Xu Chu had successful duels against enemy generals that resulted in the death of their opponents. The battle was won fighting a numerical superiority; the clan is about to fall.

Sun Ren has only to wait another day or so. Perhaps, a week at most. She sent me her missive accounting the battle as she was starting to lay siege to the settlement of Huaiyin itself, a few days after the battle I write about. It is the last Tao Ying stronghold. Before that both the provinces of Peng Cheng and Xaipi, as well as the capital of Donghai, all fell to the might of my armies.

Oh, one more thing, your old friend, the Lady Feng, is also leading part of Sun Ren's army. They seem to be getting on well.

Speaking of things going well. Things are going so well that I left finishing the campaign in her more than capable hands. I left a week early and I am almost home. I should be there in about three days to a week from the writing of this letter, weather permitting. Mid to late July at latest.

In time to spend some, if not the rest, of the summer with you. That is my fondest wish. My heart longs to see you! As if you and I are just met, and we are in the spring of our lives together. These times away from you seem so much harder now. I had a runner send this ahead, so you would know when I will arrive. I don't want you running off somewhere just as I get back home!
