To understand the experience of self-care, you must have a good grasp of the fundamentals. In this video, we explore the three languages of the self-care system. Self-care is focused on one aim, the pursuit of a human environment of health. This topic has received a lot of attention in the last few years but is still a new and growing concept. Noel hoped to add some depth by focusing on the healing part of self-care, from its roots of self-preservation to its highest form of self-restoration. There were a few significant limitations in the creation of this presentation; first, the externalization of the internal process. and Second, the challenge for the viewer to associate content with previously established health ideas. And finally, to compress nine years of content into a simple experiential format. The effect of the demands mentioned above is critical thinking from the viewer and the understanding that you are only given the pieces to the larger whole. This talk aims to drive home hard facts about the properties of self-care and create a set standard of understanding. Noel Miller, the owner of Design Fitness, is an expert in Self-Care and a specialist in Exercise Prescription. He has spent the last ten years studying the connections between Fitness, Lifestyle, and Health. This led him to conclusions about Self-Care and the mental, physical, and emotional health system.
This all started from wanting his clients to achieve their best. Every year he would review all his clients that didn’t make it to their goals. He would come up with a solution, and it was always something that pushed him outside of fitness. He would talk to many health professionals and apprentices and even took many certifications. Years went by still, and this was not enough; something was missing. Personal study and research were the next steps. He studied periods of human history, different empires/cultures, predominant figures of the ages, art, fashion, lifestyles, industry, ecology, psychology, biology, philosophy, and neurology. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
