A dog hung on for dear life after it fell 40-feet off an oceanside bluff in California -- but video shows firefighters saving its life.

The San Francisco Fire Department shared footage of the rescue, adding that the pup slipped at Fort Funston while playing with another dog on Tuesday.

The dog appears to cling to a narrow ledge, with first responders taking action and returning the animal to its owner.

He was happy. He knew he got rescued. He was wagging his tail. He was giving everyone kisses,” Rescue Captain Samuel Menchaca, of the San Francisco Fire Department, said.
