Harvard University First Year Move-In Vlog By Aiman | Part 1 Droff-Off / Driving Up To Cambridge MA

Описание к видео Harvard University First Year Move-In Vlog By Aiman | Part 1 Droff-Off / Driving Up To Cambridge MA

This video was recorded last year on August 19, 2022 but we decided not to upload it until this year, which is probably a prudent thing to do because Aiman will no longer be staying at Matthews in the Harvard Yard anymore. First-year students live in one of the 17 dormitories in or adjacent to historic Harvard Yard. Upper year students (Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors) will be living in one of Harvard's 12 houses. More on that below, but going back to first year move-in (or drop-off if your parents are driving you up/down there), there will be a staging area inside the Harvard Stadium on 79 North Harvard Street, Allston, MA, before you're allowed to enter Harvard Yard via Johnston Gate. If you're flying in, then the arrangements might be different. This is only if you're driving in. The staging and/or check in system Harvard employs might also vary from year to year.

In our case, when we arrived at the stadium, there were several campus police officers directing traffic. There were plenty of signs available as well. They asked us for the name of the dorm, gave us parking pass, and a short form to fill out. Once the officers receive calls that there are spaces available in the Yard for the respected dorm, were were then allowed to drive to the gate. At Johnston gate there will be another security officer checking the paperwork and directing you to the right building. The student will then have to go pick the key for his/her room.

Once you get to the right dorm building, another officer will tell you where to park. You'll have 20 minutes to unload stuffs from your vehicle. Once done you'll have to drive to the parking garage which is about 10 minutes away, although probably less than a mile.

Background: Aiman was admitted to Harvard College Class of 2026. He attended the college in the Fall of 2022 majoring in Mechanical Engineering. As of this writing, Aiman will be a second year student. Aiman is the first from his high school, ESUMS (Engineering & Science University Magnet School of New Haven, Connecticut) to be admitted to Harvard. The youngest of 7, Aiman is also the first in his family to attend an Ivy League. His bother Amir-Hizami (#6) graduated with a Master's Degree in Computer Science from MIT, also in Cambridge. The rest of the siblings stats are: Oldest sister Amira-Zakiyya graduated from Stanford, California; second oldest Amirul-Azfar graduated from University of Connecticut Storrs with MSc in Statistics; third in the family Asfa Huzaifa graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in Computer Science; fourth Ahmad-Fikri graduated from UConn in Mathematics; fifth Anisa-Safiyya graduated from Northeastern in Boston with Computer Design degree.

Harvard University is a private Ivy League research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Founded in 1636 as Harvard College and named for its first benefactor, the Puritan clergyman John Harvard, it is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. Its influence, wealth, and rankings have made it one of the most prestigious universities in the world.

THE COLLEGE HAS ADMITTED 1,954 of 61,220 applicants to the class of 2026 (740 of whom were admitted through early action in December): an increase of 6.6 percent in the number of hopefuls from 57,435 last year, continuing the pandemic-era, standardized-test-optional surge in applications. The 3.2 percent admit rate is the lowest in College history, down from the 3.4 percent rate last year—the arithmetical result of the continuing rise in the applicant pool.
