Searching for stars in North Carolina sapphires

Описание к видео Searching for stars in North Carolina sapphires

Today, I’m answering a question I’ve been asked many times…

Can North Carolina sapphires star???

Short answer, yes! Longer answer, some of them can, but catching stars is one of the more elusive sides of gem cutting. You have to find stones with the correct concentration of rutile to make a star, cut them on the exact right axis, and polish them to perfection before the stars start to show themselves!

In today’s video, I walk you through all the steps I took to cab 3 North Carolina sapphires. You’ll have to watch to the end to see if they star ;)
