Lifia Teguh is a pianist, composer, and arranger whose passion is to make music that touches hearts and changes lives. She is also the Collaborative Piano Graduate Teaching Assistant at Portland State University and serves as adjunct piano faculty at Linfield University. As a classically trained pianist, she has performed in the United States, Europe, and Asia as part of the renowned summer festival Music Fest Perugia, G. Lettimi Conservatory International Master Classes, China International Music Festival, and Warsaw Piano Workshop. Her dream is to found arts and entertainment companies as well as schools of performing arts that provide full scholarships for underserved communities all over the world. Chamber music during the Covid-19 pandemic can be difficult. However, partnering with string players - and other pianists - is much safer because everyone on stage can wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Because of this, music for two pianos and for strings and piano was chosen for this program. Both the Mozart and Schubert sonatas in this program are pillars in the string/piano duo repertoire. It’s important for students and faculty at PSU to promote works by underrepresented composers. For this reason, music by Cecile Chaminade was selected to represent an amazing contribution to classical literature by a female composer.
