P1 🇲🇪 (Njeguši to Kotor) - Driving the Most Beautiful Road in Montenegro

P1 is the name of a beautiful curvy road located at the southern part of Montenegro, running from Cetinje to Kotor. It’s one of the most famous hairpinned roads in the world. The road is mostly a narrow one-lane road offering stunning views of Kotor Bay from above through 30 hairpin turns. The road from Kotor's Old Town to Njeguši is just over 25 kilometers long and, thanks to its constant twists and turns, it never gets too steep. There are many sections where the road is impassable for two vehicles simultaneously (average width of just 5 meters), especially when facing a truck or bus. The Kotor Serpentine Road was one of the greatest engineering marvels when it was completed in 1884 (architect Josip Slade Šilović, 1828-1911, Trogir) as a joint effort between the newly independent Montenegrin state and Austro-Hungarian Empire who ruled over large parts of the coastal region.
