Last week, I had the privilege of attending a press conference at the White House, where I got the opportunity to sit down with Kyle Diamantas.

Kyle is the Deputy Commissioner for Human Foods, leads the agency’s Human Foods Program, oversees all FDA nutrition and food safety activities, and is one of the leaders in the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, advocating for food transparency and reducing chemical additives.

What if the system that allowed thousands of chemicals into our food with minimal oversight is finally getting a major overhaul?

I sat down with the FDA's Deputy Commissioner for Food to get the inside story on their shift from reactive to proactive. We dive into how they're closing the 'generally recognized as safe' (GRAS) loophole, establishing a new framework to re-evaluate substances already in our food, and why ingredients like food dyes—offering no nutritional value—are facing a reckoning.
