Papa Kehte Hain is a 1996 Hindi film directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The film starred Jugal Hansraj, Mayuri Kango in lead roles and Tiku Talsania, Anupam Kher, Alok Nath, Suhasini Mule and Reema Lagoo in supporting roles.

The film was released on 17 May 1996 with huge expectations due to the excellent music and promos. The film started out well, but the collection plunged, declaring the film as a flop. One of the reasons as to why the film flopped was the audience's reaction as they felt that Mahesh Bhatt didn't recreate the magic as his previous films. Also, critics panned the new, fresh pair of Jugal Hansraj and Mayuri Kango as they felt that their chemistry wasn't strong and were not able to perform as Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal did in Aashiqui. However, many acknowledge the fact that Jugal Hansraj's and Anupum Kher's performance was noteworthy. Jugal Hansraj got noticed in this film; however, his breakthrough role came in the hit film Mohabbatein.
