Granted Fires is closer to traditional control because you end up playing a very long game. What to tutor for and when to tutor makes a big difference, here is a sideboard guide.
Casualties of War - Fetch and cast this against any opponent who keeps building up a large board, do it until they run out of stuff. Watch out for counterspells.
Enter the God Eternals - Red Aggro, Gruul Aggro, Knights if they don’t have Regisaur.
Grafdigger’s Cage - Arclight Phoenix, Reanimator, Cat/Oven, Experimental Frenzy
Kaya’s Wrath - a wide board on turn four you need to clear
Planewide Celebration - Bolas combo, life gain, or to recover Fae of Wishes from the graveyard
Sorcerous Spyglass - walkers, oven, ect
Thought Distortion - Counterspell decks, superfriends decks, Temur Reclamation
True Love’s Kiss - Fires, Temur Reclamation, sometimes adventures for Lucky Clover but Casualties is usually better. Almost always get Casualties instead after turn 4.
Chandra, Awakened Inferno - Simic Flash, Izzet Flash, UW control, wide boards with toughness under three if they are non-elementals.
Karn, the Great Creator - Food decks, artifact decks, he can fetch Spyglass and Cage as well.
Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God - Part of the combo, he can also act as a 5 land murder effect for creatures and planeswalkers or just be good value in a board stall.
I am still sick, but starting to get better. Nose and throat and weird voice stuff is to be expected. Comments like “you look tired”, “you seem low energy”, and “you must be getting tired of Magic” can all be explained by what a nasty cold I have.
I enjoy honoring my commitment to making a YouTube video every day. It makes me feel accomplished and useful, even when I am ill. I don’t do it out of obligation. You don’t need to feel any kind of guilt or sympathy because I am recording while I am sick. I do this by choice. I love you all.
I reworked the audio with some friends to “CGB classic”, let me know if it got better or worse. I also adjusted the music volume, personally I think it is too low. What do you think? Keep in mind my throat is hurting and I am very soft spoken right now.
