If you love animals you're going to want to go check out Pig Beach & Ginger's Jungle Restaurant.
Highly recommend them both to visitors and locals.

We started out walking the dogs on the beach, they really enjoyed the attention and the walk. They were all very well behaved dogs, very curious and playful.
Then we continued on to Pig Beach. 🐷 It's roughly a 20 minute car ride west from the Malecon.
Now the we had just missed the pigs being let our to play, but for you guys Jen and I went back to spend the morning and get some videos of the pigs out romping around on the beach.
We wish we had gone here sooner, we will defiantly return, the beach is amazing and less touristy than the Progreso beach. Looks like good fishing in the area as well, as I seen some locals heading out with their fishing rods, off the point at the end of the vid.
These pigs are well looked after and loved, no sign of them going hungry. lol
The people looking after them genuinely care for their well being.
