CRA Construction founder and Chief Executive Kim Allen raises concerns around challenges the Queensland construction industry faces, including a labour shortage and increasing costs.

As demand for construction surges due to housing needs and upcoming projects, effective training and safety measures are critical to preventing further tragedies.

“We’re in a major labour shortage,” Ms Allen told Sky News Australia.

“Commercial builders and builders themselves are really struggling in facing rising costs, they’ve got a shortage of trades on site and finding those qualified trades, the pressures really there.

“They are underqualified, they don’t know what they’re doing, we’re not getting the jobs done quick enough, the turnaround is not happening as it should be.”
