Exploring the Five Senses: A Fun Recap | Amba School for Excellence

We had a fantastic time engaging the children in activities that focused on exploring their five senses. Here’s a quick summary of what we did and the learning outcomes each activity offered:

Sight: We played a color identification game where the children selected colored blocks and went on a "Color Hunt" to find matching items around the room. Learning Outcome: This activity improved their ability to recognize and differentiate colors, enhancing their observational skills.

Touch: The children explored different textures by walking on touch boards with rough, smooth, hard, and soft surfaces, and by feeling various materials with their fingers. Learning Outcome: This experience developed their tactile senses and helped them understand and identify different textures and materials.

Sound: We engaged in a sound identification game and used Montessori sound boxes to match and recognize various sounds. Learning Outcome: These activities sharpened their auditory senses and improved their ability to distinguish between different sounds.

Taste: The children participated in a tasting session, sampling items like lemon, sugar, salt, and water to experience a range of flavors. Learning Outcome: This helped them distinguish between different tastes and enhanced their sensory understanding of flavor.

Smell: Using Montessori smelling bottles, the children identified familiar scents such as Vicks, perfume, and Dettol. Learning Outcome: This activity enriched their sense of smell and increased their awareness of everyday scents.

These activities were designed to foster sensory development, build curiosity, and enhance learning through exploration. We’re excited about the progress each child made and look forward to more sensory adventures ahead!
