The dedollarization trend is accelerating globally. China and Russia now conduct most bilateral trade in yuan and rubles. India purchases Russian oil in rupees. Brazil and China signed yuan-real trade settlement agreements. By end of 2024, 45 percent of China's trade was settled in yuan, double the rate from 2022.
Asian companies are issuing euro-denominated bonds at record levels, 23 percent of total foreign currency borrowing in 2025 versus 17 percent in 2024. When borrowers can save nearly 25 percent by avoiding the dollar, the choice becomes obvious.

Federal debt held by public reached 99.8 percent of GDP. We're one percentage point from owing more than our entire economy produces annually. The Federal Reserve remains trapped in an impossible position. They need rate cuts to support weakening economy but doing so triggers more dollar flight. The tariff strategy isn't working as promised. Customs duties surged 153 percent to 195 billion fiscal 2025, but that doesn't cover our spending. Worse, proposed tariff dividend of 2000 dollars per person would cost 600 billion annually while collecting only 300 to 400 billion in tariff revenue. The math simply doesn't work.
BRICS now comprises more than quarter of global economy and nearly half world's population. Indonesia became 10th full member in 2025. Thirteen more nations signed on as partner countries. China's cross-border interbank payment system CIPS processed 175 billion yuan in transactions, up 43 percent from 2023, interconnecting with 4900 banking institutions across 150 countries.
