Matchless Excalibur 35 demo

First of all, this isn't the best recording as its just using an iphone but hopefully it'll give you a little idea of what the amp sounds like.

Gibson SG into Excalibur 35 (serial #001). Amp is set fairly loud but not rock concert loud.

4x12 cab has ASW KTS 70’s and KTS 60’s.

First half of demo is overdriven. Last half is clean and with the coils tapped on the pickups for a cleaner tone. I click on some pedal reverb during the clean section.

The amp has Tung Sol preamp tubes which are quite bright and zingy. The top end sizzle can be tamed a bit by swapping out the preamp tubes with JJ’s. Also.. the ASW KTS series speakers are very bright so those could also be swapped out for something a little smoother on top like greenbacks, redback, v30’s etc.
