TRANSCRIPT

Julie Martinez Verhoff:
"What I see in the future for me is maybe some more research or research audiologist and working here to develop studies or identify new practices that we could use with the children here at the River School."

Mackenzie Fama:
"I've recently taken the opportunity to become involved in a research study that's looking at improving rehabilitation techniques for stroke patients, the same of type of patients that I work with every day in my job. Getting involved in this study has inspired me to return for the PhD so that I can become more involved in research in my future career."

Charles Coward:
"In the future, I can see myself working in theater or film, teaching actors ways to improve their articulation. And with more training, I can also be a dialect coach to teach the dialects for character development."

Chizuko Tamaki:
"I don't feel like I'm limited because there are so many other opportunities in audiology. I could be doing more research. I could be teaching full time. I could be doing clinical services full time. I could be a director of some audiology clinic. Or I could be in a completely different field like in the hearing aid industry. There are so many opportunities there."

Martine Elie:
"In the future, one of the things that I would like to do is provide more international service and potentially open a clinic or a center in Haiti."

James Brinton:
"With the experience that I've gained here, I hope to get a strong clinical foundation and either someday open up my own speech practice or return to a university to teach and supervise clinically."

Davetrina Seles Gadson:
[To her patient, "You'll say them and then I'll repeat them after you."]

"In five years, I will be finishing up my pursuit of my PhD in speech-language pathology, communication sciences and disorders. I have a passion to teach. I think that my professors played a major role in shaping my career. So, to have the opportunity to do that for persons entering our field would be a great opportunity, very rewarding."
