Yamuna river crossed the danger mark posing flood-like situation in Delhi after 1.31 lakh cusec water was released by Haryana from Hathnikund barrage. With incessant rains in neighbouring hill states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Haryana had no option but to release excess water from the barrage. Over 1.31 lakh cusecs of water was released from the Hathnikund barrage in Yamuna river after the water level at the barrage rose to alarming level following overnight heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The Flood Control Department in Delhi issued an alert to the villages along the river after the water level in Yamuna crossed the danger mark on Saturday. The Delhi AAP government has already started the process of evacuating people from low-lying areas of the city. Authorities in the national capital have been issued advisory to take appropriate measures to avoid flood-like situation in low lying areas of Delhi.
