The Promised Land Is An Epic Historical Drama About The Dark Times of The Denmark In The 18th Century When Common People Were Suffering The Apathy of The Aristocratic Land Owners, It Was A Time of Anarchy When The Land Owner Were Making Rules To Bound People In Slavery, They Used Their Power & Influence To Suppress The Peasants, Treating Women As Just Commodities, They Were Seen Just As Flesh & Traded In Marriages. These Aristocrats Made Laws & Twist Them To Their Will So That They Can Amass Huge Fortunes, It Was Nearly Impossible For Any Person From Impoverished Background To Rise In These Humiliating Dark Times. The Movie Scares Us To Look Back At These Times When Humanity Was Cruel, How Much The Era Was Suffocating To The Masses, Often People Fascinate About Going Back To The Golden Ages of The Goneby Era But They Usually Ignore That Those Times Were Equally Cruel & Frustrating Too. Story Is Inspired From The True Account of Captain Ludvig Kahlen In 1755, Denmark. He Returned From The German Army & He Wanted To Cultivate The Barren Moorland Called Jutland In Denmark, He Had No Money Other Than Just The Pension For His 25 Years of Military Service. He Asked The Royal Danish Court To Give Him A Permit From The King To Allow Him To Try His Luck, These Lands Were Uncultivable & The King Had A Dream To Make Use of These Lands For Farming. The Royal Treasury Denied Him Any Grants, But Allowed Him To Continue His Endeavors, In Return Ludvig Wanted A Noble Title & Ownership of A Manor In The Land If He Was Successful. When He Reached The Moorland, It Was Filled With Dacoits & Vagabonds Also The Land Was Very Harsh To Bear Any Crop, But He Had A Plan In His Mind To Make The Land Fertile, He Had A Secret Crop Which Can Even Withstand The Freezing Environment. But He Had A Big Problem, A Local Magistrate of The Neighboring Land De Schinkel Was Plotting Against The King To Occupy The Moorland From A Long Time, When He Saw Kalhen Ruining His Plans, He Tried Every Treacherous Trick In His Arsenal, Involving Intimidation, Torture & Even Murder To Stop Kalhen To Cultivate The Moorland. It Was War of The Wills Between Kalhen & Schinkel. When The News of Successful Cultivation Reached The King He Sent 50 German Settlers & Made Kalhen The Royal Surveyor But This Made Schinkel More Eccentric & He Went On Full War Against Kalhen. In The End Kalhen Realized That His Endeavor Was Nothing Other Than Just Fool’s Gold, He Was Chasing After The Noble Title, But Ignoring A Real Treasure He Truly Possessed, He Made A Lots of Mistakes But Tries To Undo Them In The End.
