In 1995 the Welsh rock band Manic Street Preachers lost their main lyricist and rhythm guitarist, Richey Edwards who went missing on February 1st. Richey wrote lyrics that were simultaneously haunting, dark, grim and amazing. He was also deeply depressed and battling his demons whilst performing with the band. What happened to him? We're gonna talk about it right here right now on the VOICE POLLUTION Podcast.

We'll also dive back to the 90's nostalgia and discuss the late 90's. Bands, films, video games, happenings... All that jazz. A lot of the albums that have now achieved a classic status were released on the same year. Platinum records and ungerground classics alike. We were kids back then and hence the nostalgia factor is huge. Don Opaz provides all the necessary trivia for you and OB goes on and on about music, as per usual. -Eminem gets mentioned quite a lot. He was the hero and savior of my childhood. Just to clarify, I love the new stuff. I'm just way more passionate about Infinite, Slim Shady EP and LP, Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show etc. He was my first proper introduction hip hop, it all started out with The Real Slim Shady music video.

-Dr Dre vs. Suge Knight, the whole "Chronic" album name, with Suge stealing the title for his compilation

-Death Row and the downfall of the famous record label, with Suge replacing his most famous artists with some clones for his Chronic 2000 compilation

-Iron Maiden's Blaze Bayley era and Bruce Dickinson & Adrian Smith returning. I went to see them on their Virtual XI tour, I was maybe eleven years old :D

-Blink 182

-Nine Inch Nails, Moby and other electronic music artists

-Smashing Pumpkins and Sharon Osbourne beefing

-50 Cent getting shot and gets dropped from Columbia Records

-Lars Ulrich vs Napster... Napster was a famous computer application where you could download music for free. This was illegal of course, and Larz wasn't too happy about that so he sued the whole company. It was great for drama back in the days but a heavy flow anyone pirating music when Napster shut down

PS. We'll try to squeeze in a new episode every week. This is the 6th episode so you can check out the previous ones if you're interested. Most often we talk about the 90s stuff of course, but hip hop too and old films, some old retro games too. It's always nice to remember some of the fondest stuff from our childhood so please join us for the ride on the memory lane! There's a whole lotta records that we still listen to this day. It was a GREAT decade for music.
