The Great Taste Golden Fork for the best food from East Anglia and the Midlands has been presented to Nottinghamshire-based Colston Bassett Dairy Ltd for its Shropshire Blue. Judges were excited by the buttery texture and superb balance of the Shropshire Blue which was commended for its rich creaminess and characteristic blue veins which were perfectly distributed throughout the cheese. Karen Barnes, editor of delicious. magazine, commented on the “excellent textured cheese with just the right amount of tang”, while the others agreed that it is a “very munchable” cheese and would make a perfect partner to a pint of beer, a crisp white wine or a dry cider.

Out of 10,000 products entered into Great Taste 2015, the Shropshire Blue was celebrated as the best tasting product in its region at the Great Taste Golden Forks Dinner held on Monday 7 September at The Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, where over 300 guests from the world of fine food gathered to hear the results of many months of rigorous judging.
