FABRICATED LAND (How ideas create landscapes and new work)

Описание к видео FABRICATED LAND (How ideas create landscapes and new work)

Photography defined the view of the Scottish landscapes over the last two centuries, one that has remained frozen in time.

This short film reveals the process behind the creation of photographic textiles or 'photoweaves' to reimagine the Scottish land and its history. From drones to printing, the creative process carries a sense of expectation and doubts with the risks of innovating.

Dodds' body of work Fabricated Land is a series of photographic prints, hand-cut and woven, to consider specific viewpoints and the frameworks we place on those landscapes. In Scotland, the land’s identity is interpreted through a textile lens, that of tweed and textile. The modern nation itself was dependent on that industry and the values of landscape placed on it by writers, poets and artists. This work is a continuation of that tradition.
