Under a haze of smoke, international DJ Graeme Park took us on a profound journey of house music and club scenes from the 80s to today. Graeme started back in the mad days of The Haçienda Club – where he was influenced by early house records filtered out from Chicago, Detroit and New York. This was the time of Madchester’s baggy clothes and bucket hats (think early Stone Roses) and was the precursor to the Second Summer of Love. It was during these notorious movements that Graeme was behind the decks adding to the house music culture in Britain.

Stories of conceptions under the DJ box and guns being pulled were not uncommon during Graeme’s time at The Haçienda and he gave us his version of customary house ‘dance moves’ (*check out the shapes at 1.28 of the video). Sorting through his classic vinyl, Graeme gave our ears a smack of house music’s roots – 70’s funk and disco beats were spun before moving to traditional house tracks defined by cheap synths, electric drums, effects and samples.
