Completed Main Stretch (Digha to Didarganj)
The primary project, connecting Digha in the west to Didarganj in the east, was completed in stages:
Total Length: 20.5 km.
Structure: A 4-lane expressway consisting of approximately 6.5 km at-grade (ground level) and 14 km elevated sections.
Final Completion: The last major segment (Kangan Ghat to Didarganj) was inaugurated in April 2025.
Total Project Cost: Approximately ₹3,831 crore.
Connectivity: It links major city points including Atal Path, Gandhi Maidan, and Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
2. Upcoming Extension (Phase 2 Extension)
Construction on a massive extension westward is scheduled to begin in late January 2026.
Route: 35.65 km from Digha to Koilwar Bridge.
Estimated Cost: Between ₹5,500 crore and ₹6,498 crore.
Technical Details: Includes an 18 km elevated corridor over the Ganga.
Funding Model: Being built under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) by Vishwa Samudra Engineering.
Completion Timeline: Expected to take 4 years (targeting 2030).
3. Current Development & Beautification (2026)
Ongoing work as of January 2026 focuses on recreational and public amenities along the riverfront:
Waste-to-Wonder Park: A 10-acre theme park using scrap metal to create replicas of historical landmarks like Nalanda is currently under development.
Holistic Garden: A ₹387-crore project for landscaping and parks along the 7 km stretch from Digha to Gandhi Maidan is being expedited.
Safety & Infrastructure: Recent January 2026 inspections by CM Nitish Kumar highlighted the installation of decorative gates and new promenades for tourists and morning walkers.
