If you've ever wondered what to string your beads on to make a beaded necklace, this video is an introduction to bead stringing wire. In it, we show the different types of bead stringing wire you can buy and the advantages of each one.

Bead stringing wire is used to make necklaces and bracelets. Bead stringing wire is more flexible than using wire and stronger than using thread or fishing line. In this video, we will explain what the size numbers mean on bead stringing wire. There are three sizes. Size 7 is made with 7 strands and is the least flexible. Necklaces made with 7-strand bead stringing wire will hang fine but not as fluidly as with higher number bead stringing wire. It is cheaper, though, so there are times you may want to use it. Size 49 bead stringing wire is the most flexible. Necklaces made with 49-strand bead stringing wire will hang beautiful and have a lot of movement. It is, however, the most expensive size of bead stringing wire. Size 19 bead stringing wire is right in the middle. It is flexible and not too expensive. We use 19-strand bead stringing wire for most of our jewelry making projects.

Spools of bead stringing wire also come in different lengths on the spool. Pay attention to that when you compare spool prices. You can get bead stringing wire in different colors like silver, gold, black, and copper. We like Beadalon bead stringing wire. Here’s a link to see the three sizes we discuss in the video.
