Granny says this story, when Goddess Gowri returns from her mom’s house, she cooks a frugal lunch to worship nature using everything she brings from her mom’s house & does vayna pooja. She forgets to bring salt so she doesn’t add any to any of the dishes she cooks. So we do vayna pooja like she does & for lunch that day they make everything cheppi, meaning without salt.
On the menu most homes make:
Cheppi Bhajji upakari - Amaranthus stir fry made without salt. Cheppi Kheri - rice dish made using turmeric leaves
Gajbaj - all veggies growing right now in a coconut curry.
Phova payasu - beaten rice desert
Phova panchakajjaya - beaten rice Prasad as beaten rice was very easily available back then.

She then cooks a feast to welcome her son the next day, which consists of all of his favourites, all about them in my previous post.
