The Arabic word Safa does not only describe the clarity of translucent crystals or the purity of fresh waters flowing from their fountains with an unseen rhythm. Etymologically, it’s related to selectivity and hand-picking the best of different things, wines or words. But Safa is also the faithfulness and sincerity of intentions and relations among people, weaving a nest of safety in an otherwise hostile, lonely world.

Most peculiarly, Safa is used as an attribute of personified time when life is peaceful and days are kind. It is no secret that ours is no such time. We therefore reach out for music to create its own time, and hand it over to us full of kindness and mercy, full of Safa.
