Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department responds to an apartment fire that turns into a 3rd alarm fire

JFRD crews arrived to this apartment fire quickly, established a firm command and called for a 2nd alarm assignment rapidly. The fire was in the attic fast as this fire started on a back balcony and climbed up into the eaves and attic space.

With a potential for a roof collapse early, this veteran LT pulled crews out early for their safety. The plan was to do a quick knockdown of the fire and save as many units as possible...there were four that were forgone conclusions before they even arrived...the goal was to stop the damage at those four units.

Eventually a 3rd alarm was called, but tremendous command presence as well as initial ladder placement accompanied by an aggressive attack kept this fire from ending much worse.
