Burkina Faso's president made a stop in Washington ahead of the 68th United Nations General Assembly meetings taking place this week in New York. Mr. Blaise Compaore is known for playing an essential role in conflict mediation in Mali, Guinea, Cote D'Ivoire and other African countries and discussed some of that in front of hundreds of people at the Woodrow Wilson Center. In an exclusive interview with colleague Mariama Diallo, he addressed the issues of peace, security and good governance in his country and his neighbors as well. He insisted that democracy -- where everyone has a say -- is the best system for preventing conflict.
