Baseball's all time saves leader is retiring.
43 year old Trevor Hoffman called it quits on Tuesday with 601 saves in 18 seasons of play.
Hoffman spent the bulk of his career with the San Diego Padres..and will be staying with the club in the front office.
He was acquired as a rookie by the Padres in a trade with Florida in 1993
he left San Diego after the 2008 season as a free agent and pitched in Milwaukee for two seasons.
Hoffman became the career saves leader when he notched No. 479 at home on Sept. 24, 2006, breaking the previous mark of 478 by Lee Smith.
Hoffman's retirement was confirmed by the Beverly Hills Sports Council, the firm which represents him
