The Narrow House in Ahmedabad's Paldi area showcases innovative space planning in a small plot. Despite challenges like narrow roads and surrounding bungalows, the architect crafted a spacious, airy bungalow. From the outset, the focus was on creating a functional, well-lit space that seamlessly integrates with nature. Stepped gardens on each floor and extended roof slabs mitigate overheating and promote natural ventilation. The entrance's MS pergolas play with light and shadow, setting the tone for the interior drama. Inside, the Drawing Room impresses with a striking burnt brick cladding backdrop. Open flow design connects dining and kitchen areas, fostering visual continuity. The bungalow's centerpiece is a triple-height sky lounge with a glass top, offering a unique perspective and ample natural light. Bedrooms feature soothing palettes and thoughtful touches like semi-covered gardens and decorative panels. The material palette prioritizes sustainability, with natural cladding for exteriors and serene combinations of wood veneers, PU, and marble indoors. Despite its narrow footprint, the Narrow House feels expansive and timeless, a testament to thoughtful design.
