Pubs of Oxford: The Harcourt Arms in Jericho

Описание к видео Pubs of Oxford: The Harcourt Arms in Jericho

This video features the Harcourt Arms, a very popular traditional, drink led pub in the very heart of Jericho, a trendy and sought after area of Oxford.
The video introduces Jericho which is very close to the city centre and has numerous pubs, restaurants and shops. It consists primarily of terraced houses radiating out from the canal and is overlooked by the intriguing building of St Barnabas Church.
The Harcourt is a neighbourhood pub which also features free music, real ale and an attractive rear garden. Sundays are open mike nights and draws musicians from all over the city and the world. The video provides a taste of this popular evening via samples of performances there. In addition bands playing jazz, blues, rock, folk, ska and many other genres appear there and the video contains glimpses of live performances from the past.
Log fires in winter are particularly welcoming, and on ordinary nights it's the sort of pub where you can easily fall into conversation or have a quiet drink on your own. On music nights it can be difficult to squeeze in, but always worth it.
Harcourt is an unusual name and in this video the landlord, Ian Stuart, explains it’s origins and stresses that The Harcourt Arms is a real neighbourhood pub which even opens on Christmas day.
