Remigration: DHS Embraces Far-Right Ethnic Cleansing Language

The Department of Homeland Security recently tweeted that remigration is the solution to America's problems following the tragic shooting death of a 20-year-old National Guard member from West Virginia in Washington DC. Remigration is a far-right white supremacist term that literally means ethnic cleansing. This language advocates for the forced deportation of non-white individuals regardless of citizenship status, legal residency, or naturalization.

The rhetoric targets 60 million people of Hispanic and Latino heritage in America, 50 million of whom are legal residents or citizens. This official government messaging represents an alarming embrace of replacement theory ideology and racist policies. The administration's response to the DC shooting threatens to put a target on the backs of Afghan Americans and anyone who appears to be of Middle Eastern descent. Vigilante violence becomes a genuine concern when government agencies normalize white supremacist language and ethnic cleansing concepts.

The normalization of remigration rhetoric by federal agencies represents a dangerous escalation of bigotry in official policy discussions. What DHS is promoting is fundamentally about removing every black and brown person from American soil regardless of legal status.
