PsySSA Student Division Ask Us Anything Webinar: Educational Psychology

Our three guest professionals are educational psychologists and Executive Committee Members of the Society for Educational Psychology of South Africa (SEPSA), a division of PsySSA.

Dr Lynn Holmes is an Executive Committee Member of SEPSA. Dr Holmes completed her PhD researching developmental dyslexia in South Africa. She lectures occasionally at the University of Johannesburg (UJ); and has supervised intern educational psychologists at UJ for the past 8 years. She runs a small part time private practice with a special interest in dyslexia, ADHD, trauma, grief, as well as sick and terminally ill people where she assists the families to cope and adjust. She has trained through the Milton Erickson Institute of South Africa (MEISA) and is registered as an advanced Ericksonian Hypnotherapist and Ego State Therapist. She has presented at various conferences; offers CPD courses for psychologists; as well as talks at schools in both her private capacity and for PsySSA. She is a member of the Education and Training sub-committee of EPASSA.

Dr Petro Erasmus is an educational psychologist and senior lecturer at the North West University (Psychology Department). Her research interests are neuropsychology with a special focus on neurodevelopmental disorders and neurocognition and maths. She has a private practice in Mafikeng - Child and Family Guidance and Development Centre. She is an Additional Executive Committee Member of SEPSA. She is the creator of Maths Whartels.

Lize Bouwer is an educational psychologist in private practice. Her work focuses on psycho-educational, school readiness and career assessments as well as therapy using a transtheoretical approach. Lize lectured at the University of Johannesburg's education department for two years. She currently supervises interns from the University of Pretoria and the University of Johannesburg and serves as Co-Chairperson of SEPSA.
