Moh Teng Pheow, Penang's oldest renown kuih maker, has been making Nyonya kuih since 1933. Moh Teng Pheow is tucked in an obscure alley off Chulia Street with a faded sign board. However, the scarlet red facade and beautiful murals give the place away.
The establishment was set up by Mr.Moh Teng Pheow (of which the place is named after), who used to supply kuih to various bicycle peddlers back in those days.
Now operated by the third generation - the kuih factory/canteen continues to dish out more than 20 varieties of Nyonya kuih Penang on a daily basis as well as other local delicacies.
Step into the shop and you're immediately greeted by the spacious kitchen, where fresh kuihs are made daily. The kitchen was pretty quiet save for a big tray of kuih of kuih talan being steamed on the hugh stove.
Just walk through the kitchen space and you'll find yourself in the "canteen" or dine-in area where you can slowly savour the delicacies.
The dine-in space is quaint and comfortable with plenty of tables and seats for family and friends to gather.
