After Amazon suspended my account, I had the opportunity to understand just how sensitive their staff is when it comes to policies and rules.

It has been a very harsh lesson and an overall unpleasant experience. Nobody seems to know how to tackle a seller account suspension and I had almost no aid at all. My account is still suspended and I might not get it back but someone might learn a few things out of my experience.

When Amazon decides to suspend your account, they let you know over email. In my email, there were no details about what specifically led to my suspension. All I knew was that I violated something in their Seller Policy. At this stage, the detective work began. I did not find any evidence of wrongdoing on my own part but for others, the case might be different. You have to check your products, look into customer feedback, complaints, transactions, and find what might be violating their seller guidelines.

The Amazon Suspension Appeal system has a dedicated page with instructions on how to properly make an appeal. It is important to gather as much information as you can but do not expect Amazon to tell you what you did wrong because they will not. They did not tell me what I did wrong when I challenged their decision after clearly stating that I could not identify the reason for which I was suspended. I stated my case clearly, took my time to write the appeal letter. I did not criticize their decision and I made a clear statement about my intentions as a seller and how customer-centric my small business really is. Sadly I was not able to convince them to lift my suspension. If you know what you did wrong, admit your fault. Taking responsibility is the only reasonable way to get back your account.

Even though my account was suspended, I tried to keep my calm and maintain a professional tone in my email communication with Amazon. It is possible to get the account back but sadly that was not the case for me. My business has been affected by this event since it relied on the logistics and warehousing services offered by Amazon. One thing that I know for sure is that opening a new account, using different details and a different bank account will cause more harm than good.
Amazon can detect these sorts of things and it will only make things worse. If there is any piece of advice I can give, it is to not be sneaky about it. Be honest and professional. That is what I have been doing in my relationships with Amazon and my customers.
Does this upset me? Sure it does. It happens to a lot of sellers and it seems that some of them lost their decency. Sabotage via complaints and bad reviews is a common practice on Amazon and it has been difficult to protect myself against such malevolent actions.

I was not ready to give up at this point; I knew I want to get back selling on Amazon as it is such a profitable place to do business in.

I spent weeks researching online on how to write the perfect appeal letter. Once the appeal letter was ready, I sent it to Amazon. Amazon restored my account within 2 days.
