Iceland Walking Tour - Vík í Mýrdal [4K]

Vík í Mýrdal is Iceland's southernmost village, quite small and relatively remote. Its beach, which you will see towards the end of the tour, has made top ten lists of Earth's most beautiful beaches. Despite its small size it is the largest settlement for some 70 km (43 mi) around.

Information about the tour:
00:00 - We start the tour at the Vík cementery. Its elevated location offers a great view over the town of Vík. Far away we see Reynisdrangar, rock formations situated near the shore of Reynisfjara beach.
02:18 - Straight ahead the Church of Vík (Víkurkirkja í Mýrdal), built in 1934.
10:26 - Restaurant Suður Vík.
14:30 - Vík Theatre.
17:10 - Some notable houses. To the right is the old telephone exhange building, it also used to be a school from 1901-1909. The yellow house is Sælundur, a former ice house for storing meat and fish.
18:22 - Brydebúð, originally built in Vestmannaeyjar islands in 1831. Later transported and reassembled in Vík in 1895, where is served as a store. The oldest house in Vík and of significant historical importance, now it is a restaurant. It also houses the Katla center of culture, knowledge and tourism in Vík.
18:45 - A few of the oldest houses in Vík. The yellow house is Lækjarmót, built in 1902. Behind it is Sigurðarstaðir, built in 1906 and the green house is Einarsstaðir, built in 1904.
19:00 - Kvíaból built in 1898.
19:20 - Amphibious boat.
19:40 - Another amphibious boat. This one seems to be in working condition.
20:33 - Halldór's store (Halldórsbúð) built in 1903. The remains of an aeroplane are seen beside the house but I'm unfamiliar with the type.
21:23 - Old army trucks.
22:16 - Reynisfjall mountain.
25:25 - Víkurfjara, the beach of Vík.
26:40 - A closer look at Reynisdrangar.
