The journey from harvesting to packaging ensures that long grain basmati rice from India meets high standards for consumption and export. Harvesting begins when the rice plants mature and turn golden, using sickles or combine harvesters. The harvested rice is then transported to the threshing area, where machines efficiently separate grains from stalks.

Following harvesting, the rice undergoes thorough cleaning to remove impurities such as dirt, stones, and husks. Subsequently, the grains are dried either under the sun or in mechanical dryers to reduce moisture content, preventing spoilage. Once dried, the rice undergoes milling to remove the outer husk, resulting in brown rice. Further milling removes the bran layer, yielding white rice. Polishing is then done to give the white rice its characteristic shiny appearance.

After milling and polishing, the rice is meticulously sorted and graded based on size and quality criteria.
