Calling 2x Control4 systems in an MDU from a 2N Intercom without a PBX

From time to time we are asked if we can integrate a building wide 2N Intercom solution in an MDU to the Control4 systems in selected apartments.

As a native solution no PBX is required when the 2N Intercom is calling to 2N answering units across a common (building) network, so this needs some extra thought on how to achieve it.

Sam and Ian put their heads together on this one, and because their were only 2 apartments with Control4, and the Verso Intercom has 2 SIP accounts built in, they determined it could be done.

Thats not to say it was easy - each apartment had its own router and ISP for broadband, so the SIP call would be crossing routers, firewalls, and multiple WAN connections - but they got there in the end.

Generally we would recommend an IP PBX for systems of this type, and certainly if their were more than 2 endpoints needing to be called it would be a necessity, but this project hadn't had a PBX specified so up stepped the Aldous team to find a way to make it work.
