From Workstation to £200 Gaming PC

Using an old Lenovo P500 workstation PC as the starting platform for a £200 budget gaming rig

The old META for budget PC building was remarkably simple - pick up an Optiplex or similar prebuilt PC and perform some cheap upgrades. These days, there’s a better way - the Way of the Workstation! These PCs were built to handle more than 4 cores and 8 threads, can support larger graphics cards, and have tons of room for extra expansion with more drive bays and RAM slots than your typical Optiplex. What’s more, these days, they’re getting pretty cheap - this Lenovo rig set me back just over £200!
