Checking out the new Kenworth T680E and T880E took us to the PACCAR Technical Center in Mount Vernon, Wash. There, Fleet Equipment got behind the wheel of Kenworth’s latest battery-electric trucks: the updated T680E and the all-new vocational focused T880E.

Despite wet conditions, both trucks hauled full loads with confidence. Instant torque and smooth acceleration highlighted the difference between electric and diesel. Well, that and the unfamiliar quiet that surrounds you in the inside the cab.

Beyond the test track, we caught up with Kenworth at ACT Expo in Anaheim, Calif., where the T680E and T880E officially launched. Nick Harker, Kenworth’s assistant chief engineer, walked us through the development of the new platform.
