This is our first Day in Yogyakarta or also Jogja here in Indonesia🇮🇩

Yogyakarta is one of the cultural hubs in Indonesia with a lot of Temples, amazing Architecture and a lot of culture spread throughout the City and around it. We started exploring Yogyakarta on Malioboro Street which is the main walking street here, there are a ton of Batik shops, People and touristic attractions. We were greated by so many locals, the people here in Yogyakarta really seem so open and interested!

After walking through Malioboro we grabbed a local 3 wheel taxi here which are quite unqiue, to head to a more local area here in Yogyakarta. There we went on to grab some fresh fruit juices we had an Avocado (Jus Alpukat) and a Soursop (Jus Sirsak) Smoothie, this was also our first time trying the Sirsak fruit here in Indonesia.

We spotted a bakery which was selling sourdough bread, which is quite a rarity here in Indonesia. Us being German, we really love to eat bread and pastry, so we couldn’t resist to check it out! And wee had amazing talks with the owner and even better sourdough bread! The people here in Yogyakarta really seem so kind and open!

He gave us a restaurant and food suggestion, so we went to try Gudeg the famous Jackfruit lunch here in Yogyakarta. It was such an interesting dish we have never tasted anything like it.

Unfortunately our whole time in Yogyakarta was so rainy so we really couldn’t explore as much as we wanted. That’s why we definitely have to come back here to get a better feeling for the Indonesian culture hub!
